Distinctive Unit Insignia


Description/Blazon
A gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in width, consisting of a disc of six alternate white and ultramarine blue wavy bars edged with gold gear cogs bearing a gold fleur-de-lis between two sprigs of green laurel at bottom and an arched brick red scroll inscribed "MOVING THE FORCE" in gold letters at top, overall in base two diagonal crossed gold scimitars, points up.

Symbolism
The fleur-de-lis and white and blue disc recall World War II campaigns in France and the Rhineland. Campaigns in Southwest Asia are recalled by the crossed scimitars. The laurel stands for the Meritorious Unit Commendation awarded the unit for service in Southwest Asia. Brick red and golden yellow are the colors traditionally associated with the Transportation Corps. The geared wheel symbolizes mobile power and force on land, sea and in the air.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 7 June 1993.
